INTENT - Our Curriculum Intent

The curriculum is designed to ignite a passion for learning while celebrating the vibrant diversity within our school, church, and wider local community. It is inclusive and accessible to all students, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). We are dedicated to breaking down barriers and challenging stereotypes, ensuring that every child has equal opportunities to thrive and succeed. Central to our curriculum philosophy is the belief that every child deserves a voice. Through our curriculum, we empower students to express themselves, develop essential life skills, and acquire the cultural capital necessary for fulfilling life opportunities. We take pride in providing a curriculum that not only imparts knowledge but also fosters curiosity, empathy, and a deep understanding of the world around them.

IMPLEMENTATION – How We Will Deliver Our Curriculum

Our music curriculum is ambitious and forward-thinking, aiming to instill not only musical proficiency but also creativity, confidence, and a lifelong love for music in our students. It is designed to surpass the standards set by the national curriculum and draws from the Model Music Curriculum. Our curriculum is delivered by our specialist music teachers and offers a comprehensive exploration of music from around the world. We believe in providing ample opportunities for our students to showcase their musical talents, whether it's through traditional events like Christmas nativities, our annual Christmas balcony singing, the Easter Eggstravaganza, or our end-of-year performances.

IMPACT – How We Will Evaluate Our Curriculum

The success stories of ex- students who have pursued careers as music scholars serve as tangible evidence of the effectiveness and impact of our approach to music education. Their achievements inspire and motivate our current students to reach their full potential in the field of music. Our curriculum ensures that children at St. Peter’s Eaton Square develop comprehensive knowledge and skills across all areas of music. Through regular opportunities for retrieval practice, students strengthen their fluency and mastery of concepts, demonstrating incremental improvement over time. We cultivate a love of learning by fostering pride in all academic pursuits and nurturing resilience in the face of challenges.
