Enterprise Week
Enterprise Week at St Peter’s Eaton Square was introduced in September 2021 to help children smoothly transition back into school life after the summer break. Held annually, during the first week of September for pupils from Year 1 to Year 6, continue to participate in Enterprise week. It provides a fun and engaging way for students to reconnect with their peers, get to know their new teachers, and ease them back into learning.
Throughout Enterprise Week, the children embark on the journey of creating their own businesses, learning essential aspects of running a company. They start by brainstorming ideas and planning their products or services, then dive into marketing and advertising. Pupils design logos, posters, and promotional materials, gaining insight into branding and how to effectively communicate with customers. They also learn about profit margins, including how to calculate costs, set prices, and manage finances, providing them with practical experience in budgeting and financial decision-making.
To enrich their learning experience, we invite parents who run their own businesses to give talks throughout the week. These sessions offer valuable real-world insights into entrepreneurship, allowing pupils to hear first hand about the challenges and successes of running a business. This interaction not only deepens their understanding of business operations but also inspires them to think creatively and consider future entrepreneurial endeavours.
This exciting week concludes with parents and carers visiting the school to purchase the products the children have created. This hands-on experience is supported by HSBC Money Matters lessons, where financial literacy is explicitly taught. This is a key component of the week, with activities that teach children how to manage money wisely, become savvy consumers, and recognise the risks of fraud. These lessons empower pupils to navigate real-life financial situations with confidence and awareness.
Enterprise Week is a valuable emotional and educational experience for our pupils, blending creativity with real-world skills, introducing them to skills that extend far beyond the classroom. Moreover, Enterprise Week offers a holistic learning experience, helping students develop their creativity and emotional well-being, all while having fun and engaging in meaningful learning.
